Onsted State Game Area

~ The Lake

We put in at One Mile Lake in Onsted State Game Area, meandered through several channels to other smaller lakes, and found ourselves on the headwaters of the River Raisin.  Lovely area to canoe.  Carry on access is limited with very narrow and small docks to the water’s edges.  However, parking is good. Be sure to take a map; it’s easy to get lost, both on the lakes and in the state game area.

A healthy freshwater clam was found, much to our delight.  After briefly observing and taking a picture of it, he put it back exactly where and how it was found.
